If you have been following me for a while, you know how much I loooooove the Daily 5!
Seriously, it changed my teaching life this year!! I went from a class full of mildly-interested third graders to a fully-engaged group of readers, writers, listeners, partners, and book groups- all happening at the same time and all with great success!
Sooooo, you can imagine my excitement when Lorraine, from Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies, gathered a great group of upper elementary bloggers to collaborate and host an upper elementary Daily 5 & CAFE Book Study Group! Yay!! {happy dance!}
I can't wait!
To make it even better, all ideas and reflections, and discussion questions are going to be held in one place- a new blog called We Read, We Blog, We Teach.

Be sure to grab both books from Amazon by following the links above, then head over to We Read, We Blog, We Teach and start following! The book group begins with Daily 5 on July 1st and the CAFE book begins July 22nd :)
**GIVEAWAYS**
A few fabulous bloggers who are part of this book study are giving away both the Daily 5 and CAFE Books! Yay!

So, who's going to be reading and discussing along with me? I can't wait!

I am returning to the classroom this upcoming fall after being away for 11 years. I ordered these books a week ago and they should be arriving soon. I am so excited to see this and will definitely be following the new blog!! I will also be checking out this blog as well, as I'm teaching 3rd grade!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome MomofBoys! I LOVE 3rd grade and this book group is such a great opportunity for us upper elementary teachers to collaborate :) So glad you'll be joining us!

I am so excited about this!!! I adore the Daily 5, and I'm always looking for new ways to change it up (I'm a bit of a control freak) so that the kiddos have complete choice. It'll be fun to hear stories from what other people have/are thing of trying! Thanks so much for posting! I'm joining right NOW!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Miss Ducko! Can't wait to discuss all of the great ideas together in this book group :)

I can't wait, either! Love the Daily 5/CAFE. Have been doing workshop for about 15 years, but the CAFE/D5 for only 3. Can't wait to hear how others are making it work for them and have an opporunity to go through the books again!

I totally agree, Jennifer! It's definitely a book that someone can go through over & over again and always gain something new- especially with so many fellow teachers discussing it :)
DeleteLook forward to seeing you over on the new blog!

May I ask why you are pulling your Daily 5 off TPT?
ReplyDeleteSusan at RodriguezRockStars.blogspot.com
Hi Susan,
DeleteThe Sisters contacted TpT about copyright and the like, so I am taking my items that are specifically Daily 5 and CAFE down for the time being until everything is sorted out.
I would rather be safe than sorry, ya know?
I am hoping I can get them back up into the store sooner rather than later, but I am just going to wait until I hear it's ok :)
~Stephanie
I'm really excited as this is my first book study that I will be taking part in as a blogger. I have been using Daily 5 and CAFE in my yr 2/3 class for the first time this year and we all LOVE it! Thanks for the great blog Stephanie I am your latest follower (:
