Reviewing Multiplication With Our Favorite Monsters

Today was our first day back and it was great to see the kids again! I am always surprised how much they grow over the 2 week winter break :)

I wanted to keep this week low-key and review some of the things we were working on before we jump into new units. I thought today would be the perfect time to bring out Multiplication Monsters:

This activity was so much fun! We had worked with these monsters way back when at the beginning of the year when we did Monster Math, but today we reviewed multiplication, arrays, and fact triangles.

There were 24 cards I laminated and scattered around the room. Kids had the answer sheet packet and worked to find the card, copy down the info given, then fill in the rest of the info.

There were five pages altogether, so kids didn't finish, but I plan on leaving these cards in our math center for them to finish during this week I also used winter-themed monsters in this packet (instead of the summer-themed ones found in the beginning of the year packet) and the kids loved them :)

I loved this way to help us get back into the swing of things, review some multiplication facts, get out of our seats for a while and move around the room.... all good things after two weeks off!

If you're interested, this packet is available in my TpT Store. I hope you are all enjoying your week and I'd love to hear how you get your kids back into the swing of things after a long break.

Have a great evening :)

  3. I try to balance the things we have to get done (end of quarter is seven days after we return!) with some things that are more fun/open-ended/creative. HOpefully that inspires some to get cracking on the "have to" things!

I love your multiplication monsters...fingers crossed!

  10. This looks like a great activity! I love your products. I always give each kid a minute or two to share either the best gift they got or the best thing they did. That helps cut down on the quiet conversations about these things. Then we work on resolutions and get back to it!

  16. Love this file, thank you so much for your time and talents! When we get back to school we always reconnect and chat about our break. We revisit procedures and routines and I add some new expectations. I keep things low key and ease back into things. Amazing how quickly this week back flew by!
