Monday Made-It: No Name Clip Board & Currently: July

I am so excited to be back linking up with Tara's Monday Made-It!
This week, I have this to show off: The "No Name" Clip Board!

I was inspired by this picture floating around Pinterest (I'm sure you have, too!):

It comes from Mrs. Brown and her blog, Mrs. Brown's Blog.

I thought it was the perfect way to address those papers that have no owner and cut down on my searching for him/her!

My daughter and I braved the nasty heat to walk to Hobby Lobby (yes, I am close enough to walk, and yes, it is a problem!) to buy the following:
  • Small wood letters
  • Craft wood board (not sure of the dimensions, but it's sku#292235)
  • Mini clothespins (they are sooooooo cute, I had to buy them!)
  • Spray paint
  • Acrylic paint
  • Super strong magnets (I will be putting this on my white board that holds our other day-to-day business items)
I first spray painted all of the items in their appropriate colors (my colors are teal & navy- I have a blue problem, too!)

After they dried, I used the acrylic paint to fancy up the letters with polka dots (as much as I love chevron, I am just not that patient of a person!)
Easiest way to make small polka dots is to use the back of the brush :)

Then, it was time to assemble! My trusty glue gun came to the rescue and I got it all together in no time :) I simply glued the magnets to the back and the letters to the top- they are delicate, so that took a bit to make sure they were not going to slant to the front or back.

The result:
This is my fridge, but you get the idea ;)
Now, my only concern is that this is pretty cute and not the "Clip Board of Shame" that it's supposed to be.... I mean, I would probably not put my name on something so it could get hung from those cute little clothespins, right? Hmmmmm......

Have fun making your own, it's super easy and super fun!

I am so excited to be linking up with Farley again for her fantastic & wonderful Currently!

Admittedly, this is very kid-centered (my kid!), but that's the beautiful part of being a teacher mom, right? Getting to focus on only your child during the summer :) :) :)

Have you ever read Fortunately, Unfortunately? It's hilarious and incredibly silly. Fortunately, it's the perfect book to read to your class full of reluctant writers because this book will definitely get them writing. Unfortunately, their pieces will all be fortunately-unfortunately statements... but you have to start somewhere, right?

Note: This is the original and the better of the two available on Amazon.

My professional book has to come back to the free ebooks available on Whole Brain Teaching's website. Not only are they free (yay!), but they are very descriptive and include everything you will need to know about their program. I have only scratched the surface, so I actually print these books out and post-it, highlight, and take notes all over the place! Lots to learn :)
Note: This book is a great place to start if you are new to Whole Brain Teaching. Or, you can see some of my WBT posts HERE.

Happy July!!

  25. I love your choice of colors for the board. I think teal and navy look great together! I'm thinking about making some no name clips. Same basic idea, just put some little signs on some clothespins. There are days when 5 clips just wouldn't be enough. ); Thanks for the inspiration!

  30. I love this idea. I teach 6th grade, and yes 6th graders still forget to put their names on their papers. I am going to make one of these. I am using red and black this year.

  31. I saw this on Pinterest too! I like how you spaced your clothespins a little further apart than the original poster. I made one of these and my pins were too close, causing the papers to overlap a lot. I wish I had seen yours first!
