Getting Organized: Classroom Supply Labels

Are you as excited as I am to start refreshing (or completely redoing) your classroom for next year?

My favorite thing to dream about over the summer is my completely organized classroom- new posters, fresh bulletin boards, clean desks and tables in their proper spots- it's the OCD in me and I just love it :)

One thing I am tackling this summer in preparation for next year is something my lower elementary counterparts already do very well: classroom supplies.

In the past, kids have stored their materials in their desks, so while there were some supplies available, chances are, most kids had access to them in their extremely messy and unorganized desks.

Now that I am going to tables (hip hip horray!), I wanted to make sure my supplies station is organized and ready to go from Day 1. I want my new students to come in and be able to start finding and using supplies right away.

My first to-do: Supply Labels!

Aaaaah, can you just feel the organization? :)

Each of these supplies are 4 to a page, one of each height (and nearly equal width): 5", 4", 3" and 2". This way, they can label big bins or small cups- up to you and your needs!

I am planning on having table supplies as well as a classroom supplies area, so the variety of sizes are coming in handy :)

Oh, and there are two highlighters because I couldn't decide between yellow (which looks more like a crayon) or marker (which looks more orangish).... so it's up to you.

There is also a page of blank frames for any extra supplies unique to your classroom.

Want a copy of my classroom supplies? They are now available in my TpT Store (and at a discounted price for its intro).

Do you all use classroom supplies? How do you prefer to store them for the kids? I'd love your ideas as I move to this new system :)

I definitely have a summer ahead full of cutting, gluing and sorting!

  1. Hey these are so cute! Quick question - what did you use to get them to stick to your curved containers? I can't get mine to stay put! Thanks!!

    1. Hi Kelly,

      Thanks so much!

The BEST clear tape ever- Scotch Book Tape!

I get the one I linked to above in 1.5"- it's expensive, for sure, but you don't need much at all and it lasts all year! I use it to hang posters, on plastic bins, to keep nametags on desks, everything and it NEVER peels up and is so easy to peel off at the end of the year :)

      Hope that helps!

  7. Your labels are adorable, but as a teacher with tables already, I'd say you might want to consider purchasing picnic flatware caddies for each table to have its own supplies. There's a whole lot less time spent going over to the supply area. Dollar Tree has super-cute caddies in hot pink, lime green, turquoise blue, sunny yellow, and bright orange right now (for $1 - obviously). They also have book bin sized "Locker Bins" and many more items that match in color.

    1. Ooo, School Mommy, your Dollar Tree sounds way better than mine! Ours is slim pickins when it comes to bins :(

I think I have found enough of those baskets (with the markers in it in the photo above) to have supplies on each table, then I will be using larger baskets for the supply area for the times we needs lots and lots of supplies :) I love the idea of a flatware caddy, I just can't seem to find any in person- if only I could order from Pinterest ;)

Thanks so much for the suggestions!

  8. Your labels are so cute! I agree that organizing is much more fun when cute fonts and clip art are involved! I use a combo of personal supplies and community supplies. Students put their necessities in their supply box in their desk at the beginning of the year {couple of pencils, red pen, highlighter, glue stick, and scissors}. Then, all of the extra supplies they bring in at the beginning of the year get dumped into community bins {that your labels will be perfect for!} and they take supplies out of the bins when their own supplies run out... or become lost!

PS: I am a brand new teacher blogger and would love for you to stop by!
